About UK Salary Calculator
Free, accurate UK tax and salary calculators — trusted by thousands of UK workers, contractors and employers.
Who We Are
UK Salary Calculator is an independent, free-to-use resource dedicated to helping UK workers understand their pay. We are not affiliated with HMRC, the UK Government, or any financial institution. We are a small team of developers and finance professionals who believe that understanding your tax and take-home pay shouldn't require a degree in accountancy.
We built this tool because we were frustrated with overly complicated, ad-laden, or inaccurate salary calculators. Our goal is simple: give you a fast, reliable answer to "how much will I actually take home?" — without paywalls, sign-ups, or confusing jargon.

Our Data Sources
Accuracy matters. All our tax calculations are based on official, publicly available data from:
- HMRC (His Majesty's Revenue & Customs) — income tax rates, NI thresholds, tax bands, and guidance
- GOV.UK — official student loan repayment thresholds, pension auto-enrolment rules, and employment legislation
- Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) — tax policy forecasts and economic data
- Scottish Government — Scottish income tax bands set independently by the Scottish Parliament
- NHS and WHO — clinical formulas used in our health calculators (BMI, calorie needs, body fat assessment)
We update our calculators promptly at the start of each new tax year (6 April) to reflect any changes announced in the UK Budget. All rates shown are for the 2025/26 tax year (6 April 2025 – 5 April 2026) unless otherwise stated.
A Note on Accuracy
Our calculators provide accurate estimates for the majority of employed workers in standard tax situations. However, individual tax circumstances can vary significantly. Factors that may affect your actual take-home pay include: benefits in kind, non-standard tax codes, multiple income sources, Marriage Allowance, blind person's allowance, and others.
Our calculators are for guidance and educational purposes only. They do not constitute financial or tax advice. If you have complex tax circumstances or need certainty about your tax position, we recommend consulting a qualified accountant or tax adviser, or contacting HMRC directly.
